Buzz |
Scottish four-piece Stapleton feel like a warm cup of hot indie chocolate in front of an open punk fire on a cold, wet emo day. Frontman Al Paxton has a nice way with wordplay, double entendres and the like, never overdoing it and being, dare I say it, pretentious. From the ebbing of 'The Storm You Never Knew About Blew Half the Island Into the Sea' to the flowing of 'Between The Lions' this album is wholly unpretentious, cute and clever. |
Indigo Flow |
Now sporting a 2nd guitarist and new bassist, Stapleton release their best album to date. Packed full of instantly memorable tunes in the vein of Death Cab For Cutie, Mineral and The Get Up Kids, Hug The Coast is moving, invigorating and extremely uplifting.
Songs like Full Beams Down The Mountain display a band whose current fanbase size belies their immense talent. It doesn't have to be this way, you can help. |
Play Dead, Issue 18 |
There's no band on this isle making tunes like this... What we have here is a beautiful, understated work of genius. It's the record Stapleton always threatened to make, but it took a little while to get there... For those who love their music simple, understated and full of great melodies, you can't really go wrong. |
